WE NEED YOU to assist in serving the teens of our parish. This is an awesome opportunity! Below is a short description of our different ministries. If you feel that God is calling you to get involved, then please fill out the downloadable form and return it to the Youth Ministry Office. You don't have to have experience...just a love of God and teens...and be out of high school at least 1 full year.
Jr. Youth - Various programs are conducted for our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. In addition to their education program, we also conduct different social and service events each month. Adults assist with games, projects, crafts and/or chaperoning. We are also looking for 6th & 7th grade teachers on Tuesday nights and 8th grade teachers for Sunday nights.
Sr. Youth - Our educational program for students in 9th through 12th grade takes place on Sunday nights. Our mission is to “Guide teens on their journey closer to Christ.” We do this through prayer and worship, interactive learning, community building, service, leadership training, by being good role models, speaking out for our teens, and just by being there for them!
Our team is broken down into these different areas:
Core Team - Wonderful adults (with no children in high school) who work directly with our teens. We do all of the planning and facilitating of the educational nights. Meetings are Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The education program takes place on Sundays from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Parents for Life - Dedicated adults who work behind the scenes. Most of them are parents, but you don’t have to have a child in the program to join. Their duties and time commitments vary. Some are responsible for set-up, refreshments, decorations, and clean up. Others work on banners, Mass set-up, or mailings.
Music Ministry - We are currently looking for talented musicians and vocalists to lead us in worship at the Sunday 6:00 p.m. Liturgy. Occasionally this group will help out at our Life Nights too. Contact Andresa for more information.
Service/Social/Sports - Good people are needed to help out with service and social events. We also could use a little help with our current co-ed softball team and to start up our volleyball team again.
Stations - These leaders assist with technical assistance, make-up and costuming for our prayer service. Rehearsals take place on Sunday afternoons from Jan. through Ash Wednsday. Services take place at different churches on the Sundays during the Lent.
Retreat - While the retreat facilitating is mostly done by the Core Team, we are always looking for good people to assist us. The retreat takes place over a weekend in January.
Family Night - Since we take our teens away from their families every Sunday night, we like to do a couple of events a year for the whole family to enjoy. We need people to organize baseball outings, movie nights, etc.
Misc. - We always need assistance with bulletin boards, newsletters, newspaper articles, phone calling, sending birthday greetings, providing snacks, driving, taking pictures, etc. Volunteers are needed to help with web page maintenance too.
